Who We Are
A.B.A.T.E. is American Bikers for Awareness, Training, and Education. In brief, we are a Not-For-Profit grassroots organization committed to educate motorcyclists and the general public about the sport of motorcycling. We are dedicated to issues involving safety, licensing programs, awareness programs, and legislative issues dealing with motorcycling. To do this we need your support!!
A.B.A.T.E. is a Not-For-Profit organization dedicated to the freedom of the road. Not-For-Profit does not mean we don't need money to obtain our goals.
Our goals are to promote motorcycle awareness and education, to encourage motorcycle enthusiasts to register and vote, to promote safe riding habits, to encourage favorable legislation for bikers, and to promote a positive public image through organized rides, events, contests, and community action projects.
How does fundraising make these goals possible? We use money to support "Share the Road" programs, driver training programs, and two wheel trauma training. Help is also needed to purchase bumper stickers and flyers, and to continue our support for charity programs, like our Buddy Bears program. We also support lobbyists that keep us informed on pertaining legislation and will help persuade our representatives to vote favorably on these bills.
South Central Chapter is based in Hutchinson, MN. Let me tell you just a little about what our chapter does year round. We donate Buddy Bears to area ambulance services, and fire departments. These bears are given to children in crisis. We participate in the Adopt-A-Highway Program with a section of Highway 7 west of Hutchinson. We also sponsor D.A.R.E. programs to keep kids off drugs, and make many other donations of time and money to various events and groups.
Let's not forget our annual fund-raisers. In June, we have a summer dance and in November, we have a fall dance to raise money and receive toy donations for the local Toys for Kids programs.
