called to order by president Dale Steinborn at 6:59 p.m. at the Bonfire Grill in
Hutchinson, Minnesota.

Vice President: Jim Orn
Treasurer: Tammy Winkels
Secretary: Rebecca Martinson
Chapter Rep: Wendy Steinborn

There were 24 members present, in addition to officers named above.

COMMITTEE REPORTS
Chapter Products by Tammy. We are have two t-shirts left, and need a
minimum order of 25 more shirts to order more. We have a lot of old products,
let’s get them bought so we can see what else is out there. There was a
suggestion to add the old products to the silent auction.
Gambling by Jim. The winner of the bike at the rally elected to take the
money rather than the bike, so the bike will be raffled at ABATE U in the
spring.
Ways & Means by Al. Next meeting January 6 at the Ugly Bar in Montrose.
Still need new members.
Membership and Retention by Dale. Don’t know when the next meeting is.
State Rally by Dale. The next meeting is the day of our fundraiser at
3:00; we did get a new contract with the fair board for another two years. One
of the upcoming issues will be smoking at the Rally. Jim suggested we sell our
own beer; he thinks we could get a temporary license. Lots of people at the
rally didn’t turn in their hours worked for credit. They’re working on designing
a 20 year rally patch. If anyone has any suggestions, please let him know.
Dial-a-Ride by Mike. There were no calls for our chapter this year.
Joe Matter Scholarship Safety Riders Course by Dale. Nothing to report.
Buddy Bears by Charlie. BooBoo took the bears out to Spicer Fire &
Rescue, which will apparently donate to the Joe Matter Fund.
PGR Riders by Galen. Reminder that Sunday is Veterans Day. Jim let us
know about benefit on December 2 in Randall.
STATE REP REPORT by Wendy. Very extensive discussion of the state meeting
– 22 of 26 chapters represented; Biker Day, Meeting of the Minds committee; NTSB
modes of study; write or call Coleman and Klobuchar re federal level helmet
versus failure to yield laws; MRF needs new members; the drug task force; Write
to Ride campaign; tour of the capital in March; changes in ABATE U; Buddy Bear
program; Share the Road instructors and rally statistics; South Central sold the
second highest number of rally tickets; total membership down; next meeting in
December, but unknown what date – see the Road Noise. A warning about purported
ABATE sponsored or connected life insurance. It’s a scam. See minutes attached.
VICE PRESIDENT’S REPORT by Jim. Nothing to report.
OLD BUSINESS by Dale. Lots of donations for our fundraiser. Thanks to
Irwin for the grill from Coca-Cola; need some volunteers for front door shifts;
Rally and Gambling committee meetings here before the fundraiser; insurance
taken care of. Keep track of who donates what to send thank yous. The Chapter
does not sell or serve alcohol, the bartenders do so we don’t have to keep track
of ages of anyone who comes in. Discussion re whether we let people in if they
don’t have a donation or a toy. Thank you from Linda for at Ride for the Cure,
which raised about $6800.
NEW BUSINESS by Dale: Biker Day February 27, 2008. The limo will be
taking passengers, but loading points are not yet determined. Discussion again
about a phone tree. Galen volunteered Peggy to call expired members. Jim
reminded us that the American Cancer run will be from Mies Outland in June.
OPEN DISCUSSION: There was a discussion about elected versus appointed
state positions. There is a Sons benefit for Jazz’s son in Mankato on December
8.
Motion made by Peggy to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Lori passed by hand
vote. The meeting was adjourned at 8:31 p.m.
