Vice President: Jim Orn
Treasurer: Tammy Winkels
Secretary: Rebecca Martinson

COMMITTEE REPORTS

Chapter Products by Tammy; nothing new; comments by Wendy about the ABATE quilt, which was a hit at ABATE U and which we will apparently be able to duplicate if we can get 12 orders at $45 each.

Gambling by Jim. Our gambling fund has a negative balance because of the purchase of buddy bears. We must sell rally tickets. Jim brought up the Alex Tech endowment which other chapters support, but it was tabled for now at the last meeting. Jim brought up that the votes to support or not are based on the people at the committee meeting and if we don’t want to recommend the endowment we need to have a lot of chapter members at the meeting. There is a limousine going to the next meeting if anyone needs a ride.

Ways & Means by Dale. Next meeting July 15.

Membership and Retention by Dale. ABATE would like to see one member from each chapter on this committee. If you’re interested, please let Dale know. The chapter gets $4 per single and $7 per couple for new memberships.

State Rally by Dale. The price for Rally tickets is now $35 until the July board of directors meeting. There was a suggestion that there might be mud wrestling, with Dale and Patty squaring off again; also we’ve been challenged to break the Guinness Book of Records for the most t-shirts on one person. Bring the largest t-shirts you have, Bones will wear them.

Dial-a-Ride by Dale. We had several volunteers to cover for Dale during times Dale is out of town, Dan S. being one of them. We’re also going to begin covering Spicer and New London areas. The pictures for the sponsors were taken and will be delivered next month. Mike talked about the success of the presentation at ABATE U.

Joe Matter Scholarship Safety Riders Course by Artie. There was an e-mail inquiry from Tim Stockard regarding reimbursement for his safety course; the requirements of the reimbursement policy is that he must come to the meeting to report on the course. Al Salisbury mentioned the price of the course has gone up to $160; are we going to continue covering half or $75.00?

PGR Riders by Gina. Gina brought an e-mail from Lori Musolf regarding the May 20, 2007 ceremony in Marshall. At the welcome home ceremony in St. Cloud on April 27, there were 212 bikes in attendance.

STATE REP REPORT by Wendy. Brandon is stepping down as ABATE U chair, there were 854 ABATE U tickets sold; Road Noise needs a new editor; the vote to allow up to six sergeants at arms was passed.

VICE PRESIDENT’S REPORT by Jim. Talked about the Right/Write (?) to Ride award; it’s not hard to get, especially if you write about events surrounding the Biker Day at the Capitol.

OLD BUSINESS: Governor Pawlenty is giving a proclamation on May 7, at 3:30 at the state capitol for motorcycle safety and awareness. Mack would like any members who can attend to be there by 3:00. Bob Billingworth will be inducted into the Motorcycle Hall of Fame at Sturgis on August 8, 2007 in Spearfish. Tickets are $25.00.

Dale asked for suggestions for ABATE U classes for next year.
We need someone to coordinate giving the Buddy Bears out to 4 organizations.
The Queen Bee fundraiser is covered by insurance; please be there at 4:00 for setup; we need silent auction items.
Artie is coordinating the road guards for the June 24 ride for the cure; there is a signup sheet for volunteers, and the Dial A Ride trailer will be there.
There is a conflict between the ditch cleanup and the Marshall run. Dale would like to see as many members as possible at the Marshall run.

NEW BUSINESS: Charlie discussed the DQ run. He wants a membership booth at the run, there will be a meal and live music; registration is at the DQ in Hutchinson. DQ is purchasing rally tickets to be given away. Jim invited members to the black Dirt Run from Mies on June 2 from 1:00 to 5:00. There is no charge, refreshments will be served. There will be an ABATE registration booth from 11:00 to 1:00.

OPEN DISCUSSION: There was a discussion of a ride on Sunday of Memorial Weekend gathering at Bonfire before noon. Galen and others discussed road guard procedures. Lori questioned whether anything was said regarding Sgts at arms/road captain duties in connection with road guarding at ABATE U and whether that should be a suggestion for a class. Wendy brought up motorcycle awareness month and the possibility of public service announcements. Frank was going to e-mail the information he had to Wendy in that regard.

Susan made a motion to adjourn the meeting and Mike seconded it. The meeting was adjourned at 8:43 p.m
