Treasurer: Tammy Winkels
Secretary: Rebecca Martinson
Chapter Rep: Wendy Steinborn

COMMITTEE REPORTS

Chapter Products by Tammy. It was decided to get the darker gray t-shirts with the flame with black lettering;

Gambling by Jim. Keep selling raffle tickets; next raffle may be two Victorys; next meeting on August 18 at Franks.

Ways & Means by Al. Nothing new.

Membership and Retention by Dale. Nothing.

State Rally by Dale. Sponsorships are down, but we are getting new members. The Harley being raffled will be at Darwin Days and at the Meeker County Fair. It has been decided that members must pay to get into the rally if they want to attend their chapters’ meetings; we got all the front gate personnel we need; we still need to be selling tickets. Active duty military personnel will be admitted free, their spouse or significant other at a reduced price.

Dial-a-Ride by Dale. Dale presented the Bonfire with their Sponsorship picture.

Joe Matter Scholarship Safety Riders Course. Lea Nistler took the course recently, and very much enjoyed it. She will recommend it to anyone who asks.

Buddy Bears. Charlie is still trying to get them all distributed. Several members asked him to let them know when he will deliver them and will try to attend.

PGR Riders by Jim. Sales of patches have been halted because of the view of some law enforcement that the three part patch is a gang sign. For right now, don’t wear them. Carol advised that the recent welcome home for 2000 was “awesome;” Clarence mentioned that they do send-offs too.

STATE REP REPORT by Wendy. A reminder that the board of directors meeting is July 21. Sherry G has resigned, and we are currently advertising for the office administrator position, which is a paid job. There was a discussion about memorial rides after Lake Chapter’s ride got stopped and the current strike force. Each chapter is going to be asked to come up with five ideas for ABATE U. One person from each chapter should be participating in the Share the Road classes. We still need more people for the Ways & Means committee; there will be lots of products for sale at the Rally, some on clearance, and the new blankets will be available for $45. All Dial a Ride interventions need to be reported by November. We have a new chapter in Minnesota – Parker’s Prairie’s Freedom First Riders – with 97 new members, bringing us up to 26 state chapters. A reminder about the sting operations and what to watch for. Southwest District Chapters meeting September 15, October 20 Board of Directors in Baudette. A reminder to bring t-shirts for the “who can wear the most” challenge at the rally. Bones will be our candidate.

VICE PRESIDENT’S REPORT by Jim. Jim talked about what kinds of classes we want to have at ABATE U, and there’s a meeting on August 21 at the Hollywood Ranch House.

OLD BUSINESS: The Twister/Vietnam Vets ride was very good; the route was wonderful; they were thinking of going to Niagara Falls next. The Minnesota and Wisconsin Vets gave our chapter a marble plaque from the Wall on the condition we display it at the Rally every year. We need help at the Meeker County Fair; a reminder of Darwin Days and the Westphals’ party. We’re not going to participate in the Litchfield fair as they wanted $700 up front.

NEW BUSINESS: We need road guards for the memorial run at the rally. There was some discussion about shortening the length of the run in order that more members could participate in other events at the rally and how that would affect our credit hours. A discussion of the possible route for the run, and a reminder that our chapter meeting will be at 6:00 Saturday evening. We got a chance to look at the design for the rally t-shirts. Asked to turn in advance tickets and raffle tickets by Darwin Days; we still need to cover a few front gate shifts. It was decided to do ditch clean up on September 30.

OPEN DISCUSSION: We were treated to cake and Rice Krispies in honor of Susan’s birthday. Information about the Silver Lake Toilet Bowl races, Lake Chapter’s Grounded Hogs party and advance tickets at $10; Women on Wheels’ ride on August 25 starting in Delano; 19 rooms, all but 3 poolside have been reserved for our chapter for ABATE U; the Carlsons will have an auction on September 15 of items from their business, including docks and snowmobiles.

Motion made and passed to adjourn the meeting. The meeting was adjourned at 8:15 p.m
